"International Paper- Moss Point Mill"

As one of the oldest and most successful paper mills in the South, International Paper Company’s Moss Point Mill still stands, rich in tradition and history. Although the doors are no longer open for employees to enter and exit, the bonds and memories formed with their co-workers and the products they manufactured will last for years.

In 1911, Southern Paper Company was started in Kreole/Moss Point, Mississippi. Construction was completed in 1913 producing Kraft wrapping paper. In 1928, International Paper Company purchased Southern Paper Company. After several shutdowns during the Great Depression, the Moss Point Mill began full production of wrapping and specialty papers, later to produce a large variety of other paper products. During the many years of modernization and expansions, International Paper employed thousands and became not just a job to many, but a place to call “family”.

International Paper shut its doors in 2001 but will continue to be a large part of it’s community.
