“The S. S. Hurricane Camille”
 
The “S. S. Hurricane Camille” was a landmark along the Mississippi Coast and a reminder of the monster hurricane Camille that claimed the lives of more than 256 people in Mississippi and Louisiana The tugboat came ashore in August 1969 and was originally named the “East Point”. The boat soon became a tourist attraction and was renamed the S.S. Hurricane Camille. She was a symbol of courage and strength to all those that lived along the coast. The ship was slowly rusting and in May, 2008 was demolished and the debris was hauled off.  Copyright 2008
